This freestanding structure will be located at the Hive, an Uptown District urban development in Oakland known for its lively events and growing community. Filled with new homes, shops, eateries, nearby galleries and landmarks, the Hive is a recent development of SDG. The Hive parking garage will help its local patrons and visitors alleviate the parking challenge that is often found in this growing community where parking is scarce.

"At the Hive we are taking 1,600 square feet, or the space needed for 7 surface level parking spaces, and converting it into a 39-space, seven-level structure. Drivers will park their car in a room at the base of the building and once they leave, their car will be automatically lifted and stored above ground. Drivers will be able to retrieve their car in less than two minutes. In addition, this all-steel structure dramatically reduces the CO2 emissions versus a concrete structure and eliminates the emissions from cars driving around looking for parking, so the environmental benefits are very real. We will complete the structure by Spring 2017."
