CLEVELAND, Sept. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Timing is everything, especially when figuring out the best time to update or install new software. First Federal Savings Bank of Elizabethtown, much like other banks, reached this critical moment when its document imaging system wasn't properly storing files and couldn't augment the bank's core system. These issues led the bank to identify that they didn't just need to replace the legacy document imaging system – they would gain more value from an enterprise content management (ECM) solution. Now, the bank can easily retrieve and evaluate reports from its Open Solutions core platform and automate processes with workflow across five departments since choosing OnBase through Latitude 44, Inc., a Hyland Software partner.

"With OnBase we can manage reports from our Open Solutions core platform then turn that data into meaningful information. This capability is really what empowers us to make the best decisions to foster continuous growth," said Debbie Starkey, operations manager at First Federal Savings Bank of Elizabethtown.
But managing documents through OnBase integration with the core platform is just the beginning of the ECM benefits at the bank. The biggest area of improvement is in new account opening, where the bank uses signature pads in conjunction with OnBase. "Before, the customer would sign a signature card, which was delivered via interoffice mail by a courier – a process that took at least a day," said Starkey. "With OnBase, the account can be processed as soon as the retail associate uploads all the required documentation, including the electronic signature. We have better customer service and what's more – we never miss our compliance requirements."
Even managers have taken notice. To improve collaboration among employees, the bank's management is looking into how it can leverage OnBase to augment its SharePoint solution. The project, which will kick-off next year, will leverage SharePoint's user interface with OnBase's workflow and document management capabilities.
