First Ever AmCham South China U.S. National Pavilion at the West EXPO
CHENGDU, ChinaOct. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Opening Ceremony of the U.S. National Pavilion at the 15th West EXPO organized by The American Chamber of Commerce in South China (AmCham South China) in partnership with AmCham West China was held this morning at the Chengdu Century City International Exhibition Center. Guests included: Mr. Raymond Greene, U.S. Consul General in Chengdu; Mr. Richard Ren, AmCham South China Government Relationship Committee Chair; Mr. Wu Xiankui, Deputy Secretary-General of Sichuan Provincial People's Government; Mr. Yang Qinglong, Deputy Director of Sichuan Bureau of Expo Affairs; and exhibitors at the fair.
This is the first time ever AmCham South China establishes a U.S. National Pavilion at the West EXPO. Just last month the Chamber attended the Annual China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen leading a 400+ delegation which including 200 corporate executives brought from the U.S. The Chamber also established the largest U.S. National Pavilion in history of CIFIT. Considering that the Chamber's first delegation to CIFIT many years ago only consisted of 6 persons, this is a great start for its first delegation to the West EXPO, with 12 companies exhibiting and more than 20 delegates joining. The Chamber believes that they will build on this in the future years as they show their executives the benefits of attending the West EXPO. It is reported that companies exhibiting this year in the U.S. National Pavilion include United Airlines, Honeywell, Measurement Specialties, MetLife, UniGroup and others.
The West EXPO, serving as an important platform in western China for investment promotion, trade cooperation, diplomatic services, and development in western China is an annual event held in Chengdu. With exhibition area exceeding 180,000 square meters, hosting over 4,600 exhibitors and receiving more than 400,000 visitors last year, the West EXPO provides an excellent platform for those interested in investment and development in western China.
In fact, AmCham South China has a long history with Sichuan Province, dated back to the Chamber's release of its Three Year Plan for A Future Sichuan, a long-term relief effort after the Sichuan Earthquake in 2008. Since then, the Chamber has led delegations consisting of potential investors and experts to the province, aiming at creating jobs and opportunities for local people and helping with local economic development.
