CHICAGO, April 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- SpotMe, the leading innovator in mobile event technology, announced today its certification approval by the U.S. Department of Commerce to the new EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework program.
The EU-U.S. Privacy Framework was jointly developed by the European Commission and the U.S. Department of Commerce to provide a legal basis for the transfer of personal data from the European Union to the United States. The framework also provides European Union citizens greater transparency with respect to the personal data collected by U.S. organizations as well as an enhanced mechanism for resolving privacy disputes.
"Our customers are global Fortune 500 multinationals that expect all their affiliates to be able to consume our services, regardless of their jurisdiction and event location," said Pierre Metrailler, CEO of SpotMe. "The adoption of the Privacy Shield Framework provides a predictable and standardized mechanism for our customers to comply with their obligations under EU data protection directives."
Furthermore, in the light of the new EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) that will enter into force in 2018, SpotMe has completely redesigned its data privacy policy and now provides a GDPR-compliant privacy policy template for all clients using the SpotMe enterprise app platform. A key differentiator of the SpotMe privacy concept is to issue a client-specific policy statement, with the client named as the data owner and controller.
Finally, in order to support clients subject to the most stringent regulatory or corporate requirements, SpotMe is offering full flexibility on the physical location for cloud storage. Customers can pick their data hosting location upon creating a new event instance within the SpotMe Backstage Content Management System, with data hosting available in the U.S., EU, Singapore and Australia.
