First Choice Power's Fall Reduce Your Use Grant™ Application Period Opens
Nonprofits, schools and chambers can apply to receive funds for energy-efficient upgrades
IRVING, Texas, Aug. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- First Choice Power today announced it is opening its Reduce Your Use Grant™ program for fall applications. The grant program awards as much as $2,000 to schools, nonprofits and chambers to fund energy-efficient upgrades. The applications will be available online until Oct. 15, 2011, at FirstChoicePower.com/Reduce.
"Because of the record heat we've had this summer, nonprofit organizations and schools need help to reduce their costs so they can continue to serve the community," said Brian Hayduk, president, First Choice Power. "Reduce Your Use Grants allow these organizations to make upgrades that will save significant money long-term on their energy bills."
First Choice Power awarded more than $60,000 to 54 organizations in spring 2011 through the Reduce Your Use Grant program. The combined savings of the recipients is estimated at more than $100,000 over the next four years.*
To be eligible, organizations must have current or active IRS 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) status, be registered with and be in good standing with the appropriate state registration agency, be in a First Choice Power service territory or community where the company has business interest. Schools must also be in a First Choice Power community.
Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Oct. 15. Only one application per organization or school will be accepted. Priority will be given to First Choice Power customers, agencies with a low-income and hunger focus and agencies where First Choice Power employees and retirees volunteer.
