NEW YORK, May 9, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Carolynne J. Harvey, Founder of Dream Baby Sleep® announced today that the company has earned the designation of Safe Sleep Guardian from the leading SIDS charity First Candle. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome remains the leading cause of death for babies one month to one year of age and, combined with other sleep-related infant deaths, claims the lives of 3,600 babies every year.
Last year First Candle launched the Safe Sleep Guardian program to recognize companies, photographers and bloggers who only show babies in safe sleep environments – alone on his/her back exclusively in a crib or bassinet with only a firm fitting mattress and without pillows, blankets, stuffed animals or fluffy bumpers. These recommendations, developed by The American Academy of Pediatrics, can reduce the rate of SIDS by 50% and prevent other sleep-related infant deaths.
First Candle's CEO Alison Jacobson, commended Harvey on her commitment to this effort. "Carolynne has a large following of parents who turn to her for sleep advice. She and her team of certified sleep consultants recognize that it's important for parents to get a good night sleep and baby to get a safe sleep. By helping reinforce our messaging about safe sleep we can expand our outreach and hopefully save babies' lives."
In addition to becoming a Safe Sleep Guardian, Dream Baby Sleep® will be sponsoring one of First Candle's runner in the 2019 TCS New York City Marathon this November. First Candle has a team of five runners who will be raising money and awareness for the charity. Harvey shared "I'm very proud to be a part of the effort to raise money and awareness for SIDS prevention. My longtime friend, client and first-time mom, Molly Waitz of Cutchogue, NY jumped at the chance to participate in such a worthy endeavor. We know how important this continued research is."
