CHICAGO, Sept. 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A caregiving situation is an isolating and lonely experience. To connect those who care with a community of support, CareGiving.com and The Center for Family Caregivers will host the First Annual National Caregiving Conference on December 2 and 3 at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare, 8535 W. Higgins Rd in Chicago.

The conference will feature three educational tracts – one for family caregivers, one for former family caregivers and one for professionals. Professionals (nurses, nursing home administrators, physical therapists and social workers) can receive 6.5 continuing education hours for attending the Saturday conference. "We want to spark important conversations about what we need as family caregivers and former family caregivers in our communities, our workplaces and our health care system," explains Denise M. Brown, founder of CareGiving.com and the Executive Director of The Center for Family Caregivers.
"Attending the conference in Chicago will give me a chance to glean resources from outside my area," says Christine Certain, who cares for her grandmother and her father. "I hope to gain encouragement through the seminars, bond with my fellow caregivers that I have met on CareGiving.com and make new friends as we share our stories."
"I am attending the conference to gather with other family caregivers, to meet people I have met on CareGiving.com, who are more like family to me, and to be part of what I know will be a very memorable experience," adds Lillie Fuller, who cares for her mother and previously cared for her father and her grandmother.
The cost for family members and former family caregivers to attend the all-day conference on December 3 is $20. Our sponsors, including Eli Lilly, Alzheimer's Foundation of America, Seniorlink, CareZips® and eCareDiary, make it possible to keep registration costs as low as possible.
Family caregivers, former family caregivers and professionals also can attend pre-conference intensives on Friday, December 2. Professionals also can earn as many as 4 continuing education hours by attending the intensives.
