Fir Tree Partners Hires Peter Calabro as Managing Director to Source Investment Opportunities in Europe
NEW YORK, Feb. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Fir Tree Partners today announced that Peter Calabro has joined as a Managing Director and will help lead the firm's expanded focus on European investment opportunities.
"We continue to believe Europe provides a unique opportunity for long-term, value oriented investors like Fir Tree, particularly as it relates to undervalued and undermanaged real estate assets and corporate opportunities that have been capital constrained since the economic crisis. Peter's depth of experience makes him the right person to help lead this effort," said James Walker, a Managing Partner at Fir Tree.
Calabro, who has spent the last 13 years working in London, said, "I look forward to leveraging Fir Tree's 20-year history of collaboration with management teams and asset owners as they position themselves to benefit from the longer-term recovery across Europe."
Calabro formerly was a Managing Director and Head of European Sourcing in the London office of Mount Kellett Capital, where he focused on sourcing deep value and distressed investment opportunities in transactions ranging from single name corporate credit, private equity and real estate.
Prior to joining Mount Kellett, Calabro worked in the European Special Situations Group at Goldman Sachs, along with the founders of Mount Kellett, and also was a Director in the High Yield/Leveraged Capital Markets Group at Lehman Brothers. He has a B.A. in Economics from The University of Michigan.
