FiOS Free On-Demand Spring Marathon Sets Viewership Record
NEW YORK, May 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- "Free," "on demand" and "great content" proved to be a winning combination for the FiOS Free On Demand Spring Marathon, which set a viewership record.
The 10-day marathon, now in its fourth year, attracted 1.8 million unique users, a 16 percent increase over last year's total of 1.5 million.
FiOS TV subscribers tuned in during the marathon period , April 3-13, to catch up on TV shows, see TV series premieres or watch a movie, all part of the industry-leading on-demand content offered by FiOS.
With over 80 brands participating, over 200 network TV offerings including most as full seasons and more than 2,000 movies, there was plenty for viewers to choose from.
The top choices:
- HBO's "Game of Thrones" drew the highest activity as customers caught up with past seasons in preparation for the season five premiere.
- ABC was the No. 1 network viewed, with six of the top 25 shows overall. "Scandal" and "Modern Family" led the way.
- Fox's "Empire" and "Last Man on Earth" were ranked second and third overall.
- The No. 1 movie viewed was HBO's "X Men: Days of Future Past."
The free FiOS On Demand marathon events serve to remind customers of the great value offered by FiOS. During the spring marathon, week-to-week premium network transactions increased by 31 percent while non-premium networks saw a 10 percent increase. Two-thirds of FiOS customers use the On Demand function each month while overall, 80 percent of FiOS customers use it during the year.
FiOS On Demand features over 100,000 titles and growing, with thousands available free on a daily basis. Over 40,000 of those are available in HD, and more than 80,000 are available for viewing over PC, tablets or smartphones using the free FiOS Mobile App, offering customers the ability to enjoy their choices virtually anywhere.
