FINRA Chief Counsel Linda Riefberg Joins Fried Frank
NEW YORK, Sept. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP announced today that prominent securities enforcement lawyer Linda Riefberg has joined the Firm's leading Enforcement & Investigations practice, resident in the New York office. Ms. Riefberg most recently served as vice president and chief counsel in the Department of Enforcement of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).
While at FINRA, Ms. Riefberg oversaw a broad range of investigations and disciplinary actions involving violations of federal securities laws and FINRA or NYSE rules related to market timing, stock lending, structured products, bond funds, insider trading, fraud, market manipulation, sales practice misconduct, financial operations, revenue sharing, email retention, and research issues. FINRA is the largest independent securities regulator for securities firms doing business in the United States. She is a frequent panelist on enforcement trends, research and e-discovery issues.

Previously, Ms. Riefberg was a lawyer in the Enforcement Division at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), which in 2007 merged with the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD) to form FINRA. Before joining the NYSE, she was a securities litigator at a major law firm.
Ms. Riefberg received her JD from New York University School of Law in 1984, where she was an editor of the Journal of International Law and Politics, and her BA from State University of New York at Binghamton in 1981. She is admitted to practice in New York.
