WASHINGTON, June 23, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Silicon Valley is known everywhere as a center of innovation, investment and success. Entrepreneurs from around the world flock there to pitch their ideas and found companies. But where do social entrepreneurs go? What makes a successful social enterprise ecosystem? And which city is poised to become the Silicon Valley of impact?
Halcyon Incubator, together with Capital One, is answering these questions with the publication of the inaugural Social Enterprise Ecosystems Report, a first-of-its-kind study, directly from the voices of social entrepreneurs in the United States.
In its first year, the report finds that Washington, D.C. is currently the best city for social entrepreneurs, claiming pole position to become the Silicon Valley of impact.
About The Report
The report ranks U.S. cities on their receptivity to social entrepreneurial activity using actual feedback from this community and public data. "At a time when this country must solve so many pressing challenges, we need to understand what makes a good ecosystem for social entrepreneurs so that all sectors within a city can work together to better catalyze promising solutions," says Kate Goodall, COO of S&R Foundation, which runs the Halcyon Incubator.
By examining the responses to a national survey of this community, Halcyon identified four pillars that define social enterprise ecosystems. Using this framework, the report analyzes public data to rank the best cities in the U.S. for social entrepreneurship.
