Finding Peace in a Slice of Pie
Silverado Senior Living partners with award winning children's book author Derek Munson to provide children with the tools to overcome bullying
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Silverado Senior Living, a memory-impairment assisted living, at home and hospice company has tapped the energy and resources of Derek Munson, author of the award-winning book, Enemy Pie, to conduct a series of presentations on January 26, 2011, to bridge the gap between young children and frail elderly, and validate the importance of both age groups.
Enemy Pie provides a valuable lesson to children—that the more we know about our enemies, the more common ground may be discovered.
In his first appearance with Silverado Senior Living, Munson will conduct his unique interactive Enemy Pie Presentation for youth at the Rabbi Jacob Pressman Academy, the day school of Temple Beth Am January 26 at 2 pm. The presentation, including how to concoct a pie for enemies, is actually a workshop to give youth a new perspective on recognizing bullying and overcoming challenges. Later, Derek and select student leaders from Pressman Academy will appear at Silverado Senior Living – Beverly Place at 6 pm for an evening presentation and share personal stories of overcoming bullying and adversity. Media are encouraged to attend.
