Finding Love: A Journey of Self-Discovery in WWII
Debut Author Shares One Boy's Inspirational Journey to Manhood during WWII in New Novel
SUN CITY WEST, Ariz., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- In his inspiring new novel, A Life Worth Living: A Romance of a Lifetime (published by iUniverse), debut author H. P. O'Hagan reveals the arduous journey that one boy has to endure to finally realize his true value as a loving individual and become a self-respecting man.
After his best friend's untimely death, the threat of suicide by his alcoholic mother (a woman who is eventually institutionalized because of her drinking problem) and the abandonment by his father, Henry eventually changes his name and assumes another life as a homeless teen. Raised into a young man by the friends he makes on the streets, Henry decides to enlist and fight the good fight during World War II. Maybe there he can finally make a difference.
Now in the service, Henry meets a young lady name Beth, and after some false steps, he discovers that he has fallen in love. However, their love quickly becomes impractical when he is sent overseas. Unfortunately, he is shot down and forced to roam Europe for months until he is rescued. He soon learns that his beloved Beth, grief-stricken about his erroneous death, actually married, breaking his heart. All Henry knows now is that he needs to find a purpose, so after his discharge he goes to school under the GI bill and becomes a teacher.
Can Henry realize his true potential and save his own life from the destruction his parents seemed to suffer? Can he rediscover his former love and together recapture the romance they once shared? Can he find real contentment and life amid war and lies? Find out in the startling yet heartwarming conclusion of O'Hagan's A Life Worth Living, a wartime romance that promises as much depth of character as inspiration to overcome the demons that haunt all.
