WASHINGTON, May 12, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- FINCA International, a Washington D.C.-based global pioneer of microfinance and social entrepreneurship, is pleased to welcome Ami Dalal as Vice President of Social Enterprise Innovation. Ms. Dalal will be responsible for developing FINCA's strategy and programs to support the growth of social enterprises that improve people's access to critical goods and services beyond microfinance.
With over 30 years of experience delivering financial services to low-income entrepreneurs in more than 20 developing countries, FINCA's newest program aims to build sustainable enterprises and distribution models for socially impactful products or services that save people time and money, promote health, resilience and self-empowerment, and expand their opportunities to participate in the local economy.
This will include clean energy solutions, health, water, sanitation and hygiene systems, and agricultural value chain products or services. FINCA will mobilize philanthropic capital to provide funding to social enterprises, contribute operational knowledge of distribution, scaling strategy, and financing in emerging markets, and offer research capability and impact assessment.
Ms. Dalal brings more than 15 years of experience investing and working closely with SMEs, social enterprises, consumer products, infrastructure and commercial real estate. Most recently, she was strategic advisor to Ashoka's Social Finance Services initiative, leading a search in innovative financial mechanisms to accelerate financing for social impact. Prior to Ashoka, Ms. Dalal oversaw global post-investment management at the Acumen Fund. Ms. Dalal also has worked at Macquarie Capital and began her career at The JBG Companies.
According to Allison Scuriatti, Executive Director of FINCA International, "Ami's deep understanding of social enterprise and private sector investment structures make her a great partner for entrepreneurs and other potential partners in the impact investment world. She will help advance FINCA's mission in ways that are complementary to the operations of our global microfinance network."
"FINCA is uniquely poised to help social enterprises build successful outreach in communities across the world. I am excited to lead this effort," said Ami Dalal.
Ms. Dalal has an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a B.S. in Economics and a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania.
