Finisar Corporation Analyst Notes
On June 12, 2014, Finisar Corporation (Finisar) reported its Q4 FY 2014 and full-year FY 2014 financial results (period ended April 27, 2014). For the quarter, revenues stood at $306.0 million, up 25.7% YoY. Net income for the quarter registered $28.4 million or $0.27 per diluted share versus $3.9 million or $0.04 per diluted share in Q4 FY 2013. For the full year, revenues came in at $1.2 billion, up 23.8% YoY. FY 2014 Net income stood at $111.4 million or $1.09 per diluted share compared with net loss $5.5 million or $0.06 per diluted share in FY 2013. Eitan Gertel, Finisar's CEO, said, "Demand for transceivers operating at 10Gb/s and faster continued to be strong during the quarter. Demand was also strong for our transceivers for LTE wireless applications." The Company expects Q1 FY 2015 revenues to be in the range of $320 million to $335 million. Palo Alto Networks Inc Analyst Notes
On June 2, 2014, Palo Alto Networks Inc (Palo Alto Networks) released a new research insight that reveals how attackers exploit commonly-used business applications in bypassing security controls, and how business need to reassess and strengthen its security. According to the report, 34% of applications observed can use SSL encryption, leaving them exposed to vulnerabilities such as Heartbleed. The reported stated that common sharing applications through e-mail, social media, and video remains to be the major channels for delivering attacks, and often the start of multi-phased attacks. According to the report, to better protect the networks, the a balanced safe enablement policy should be deployed for common sharing applications, unknown traffic should be effectively controlled, and applications that use SSL should be determined and selectively decrypted. Aruba Networks, Inc. Analyst Notes
On June 10, 2014, Aruba Networks, Inc. (Aruba Networks) announced that SVP Worldwide replaced Cisco WLAN infrastructure with Aruba's Cloud Wi-Fi solution, including the Aruba Instant 802.11 ac Aps and Aruba Central cloud-based management system to rapidly enable mobile collaboration across its distributed enterprise locations. According to Aaron Paxson, Global Network Manager for SVP Worldwide, Central Management, the ease of use, cost savings and its ability to quickly deploy to a number of remote locations are the critical deciding factors to deploy Aruba. Paxson said, "The Aruba Instant APs were much easier to configure and the user interface was more intuitive." The Company stated that SVP Worldwide is looking forward to extend its Aruba wireless infrastructure to North America by next year based on success of the initial deployment. On June 12, 2014, Fortinet Inc (Fortinet) announced that its FortiGate platform won multiple awards from Network World and Computerworld for Firewall Security Innovation and Customer Service. On June 11, 2014, Rambus Inc. (Rambus) updated its revenue guidance for Q2 2014.
