Financial Planning Days Brings Free Financial Planning to Americans in 20 U.S. Cities
DENVER and WASHINGTON, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Financial Planning Association®, Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Foundation for Financial Planning and the U.S. Conference of Mayors announced that 20 cities will participate in the first-ever Financial Planning Days (www.FinancialPlanningDays.org) program in October and November 2010.
Financial Planning Days is a groundbreaking program involving city governments and hundreds of financial planners nationwide, in an effort to provide free financial education to Americans via a series of daylong clinics and one-on-one sessions. Financial Planning Day events will feature experts from the Financial Planning Association® and highly qualified CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals who will provide free, no-strings-attached, financial counsel and information to underserved communities, young adults and individuals facing special life circumstances or crises.
Financial planners will meet with attendees to answer questions on budgeting, getting out of debt, income taxes, dealing with mortgage foreclosures, paying for college, estate planning and insurance, among many other topics. The events will also feature a series of free classroom-style workshop presentations addressing key personal finance topics. The advice will be offered on a "no strings attached" basis and planners will not give out business cards or sell financial products or services.
The participating cities are:
- October 2: Miami and Oakland
- October 9: Denver and Sunnyvale, Calif.
- October 16: Elizabeth, NJ; Burnsville (Twin Cities), Minn.; San Francisco
- October 23: Chicago; Cincinnati; Eugene, Ore.; Houston; Huntington Beach (Orange County), Calif.; Los Angeles; Mesa, AZ; New York; Omaha; Philadelphia; Seattle; and Washington, D.C.
- November 13: Indianapolis
