Last year's winner, Cheree Miller of London, Arkansas, told AOL's WalletPop, "Winning the contest changed my life." She used her creativity and perseverance to find the tools and information she needed to put together a winning entry in 2010. "You'll find all those things on the InCharge website," recommends Cheree.
This year's Be InCharge of Your Debt Contest prize is provided through the generous contributions of Robinson Radio, Massey Communications, Massey Services, Heartland Financial Services, Fairwinds Credit Union, and InCharge Education Foundation.
To enter, contestants must complete an e-learning personal finance literacy course, "Mind Your Finances," and submit a video response about what they learned from the course that will help them become financially empowered and "InCharge" of their debt. Videos should be less than 2 minutes in length and must comply with contest rules as posted at http://www.incharge.org/mind-your-finances/.
The top ten videos, determined by public vote through May 31, will advance to the final round of judging. One winner will be selected based on originality, creativity, overall appeal, and demonstration of learning from the Mind Your Finances course. The winning contest entrant will receive a grand prize of up to $10,000 that will be paid directly on their behalf to their unsecured credit card account(s).
The contest winner will be announced Thursday, June 30, 2011.
