FRANKFORT, Ky., Sept. 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Buffalo Trace Bourbon Whiskey announces the finals of its third annual Battle of the Bands Contest. After months of qualifying, eight bands have claimed a spot in the finals and will battle it out in the month of September for the grand prize. The winner will be based on fan voting throughout September, with the most votes taking home the contest's biggest prize to date, $10,000.

The eight bands that will be competing are listed below. Each band was the top vote getter in its respective month and has already been awarded a $500 monthly prize.
- North of the Mason Dixon (NOMAD) - Pittsburgh, Pa.
- Jimmy Honeymoon Quartet - Louisville, Ky.
- Bent Penny Band - Lexington, Ky.
- BlackWithWhiteStripes - Louisville, Ky.
- Shadder- Kendallville, Ind.
- Pullman Standard - North Hollywood, Calif.
- Big Drunk and the Runaway Scrape - Houston, Texas
- Alchemy Heroes - Burbank, Calif.
"This year's September showdown will be fiercely competitive," said Kris Comstock, bourbon marketing director. "Not only has the prize doubled from last year, but the new format means only the most popular bands are competing in the finals. The competition for $10,000 will be intense," he added.
