WEST CHESTER, Ohio, April 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- West Chester-based Contech Engineered Solutions announced today that the Filterra bioretention system has received approval and established sizing criteria from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection as a stand-alone stormwater management structure.
Filterra joins Contech's other stormwater management products, the Stormwater Management StormFilter and Jellyfish Filter, as approved stormwater management structures in Maine.
Filterra is an engineered biofiltration device with components that make it similar to bioretention in pollutant removal and application, but has been optimized for high volume/flow treatment in a compact system. Its small footprint allows Filterra to be used on highly developed sites such as parking lots and streetscapes. Filterra can now be used as a stand-alone practice or in combination with perforated pipes or chambers to optimize runoff reduction. At the heart of all Filterra systems is Filterra engineered media that has been optimized to operate at high flow rates (140 inches/hour) while maintaining pollutant removal performance.
"Contech is pleased with the approval of Filterra in Maine," said Michael Hunter, Vice President of Stormwater Product Management. "This approval provides engineers more flexibility when designing stormwater treatment systems, especially in urban and suburban environments."
