Film-making brothers complete epic road trip, launch new adventure
Cardo scala rider® motorcycle headsets enable pair to communicate across China, India
PITTSBURGH, July 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Colin and Ryan Pyle, film makers and adventurers, were recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for completing the longest continuous journey by motorcycle within a single country, traveling more than 10,000 miles as they circumnavigated China. On August 26, the brothers are setting out on an epic road trip around India. Cardo Systems, Inc., the world's market leader in wireless Bluetooth® communications for motorcycle helmets, was a sponsor of the China trip and is sponsoring the India adventure, providing Cardo scala rider® headsets that enable the brothers to communicate along the way.
The Pyle brothers encountered many challenges as they completed their unprecedented journey around the perimeter of China. The route took them along the North Korea border, through Inner Mongolia, to the base of Mount Everest, through Shangri-La and back to their starting point, Shanghai. Through it all, the pair's Cardo scala rider® headsets allowed them to communicate, coordinate movements to stay safe and share their adventure in real time.
"The Middle Kingdom Ride through China was a life-changing experience," said Ryan Pyle, an award winning photographer, television presenter, filmmaker and author who is completing a documentary photography book on the ride as well as a television show that will be released later this year. "Cardo communication equipment made our journey easier and safer. It's great to have a partner like Cardo as we set out on our new adventure in India."
Among the challenges the brothers encountered in China were poorly maintained and narrow roads, which occasionally required the lead motorcyclist to use his headset to convey a warning to the trailing rider. One such incident involved a truck that was straddling the middle of a winding road, nearly forcing the brothers off the roadway. The ability to communicate during the journey was critical at such points and a major advantage as they completed complex navigations, but it was also an integral part of the experience throughout the journey: The Cardo scala rider® headsets allowed the brothers to engage in an ongoing conversation and share thoughts and insights, enhancing their adventure.
The Pyle brothers encountered dangerous road and weather conditions in many areas of China, and they expect to discover similar hazards as they circumnavigate India. Their Cardo scala rider® headsets will be a critical safety tool and an indispensable part of their latest epic motorcycle trip experience in India as well.
"The Middle Kingdom Ride through China and upcoming India Ride exemplify the adventurous spirit of motorcycling," said Cardo's CEO Abraham Glezerman. "Cardo Systems is proud to sponsor Colin and Ryan Pyle as they make their epic journey, and we look forward to following their exploits as they document the trip."
