Fifth Coin in United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters® Program to Launch November 17
Last quarter of 2010 honors Mount Hood National Forest
WASHINGTON, Nov. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Join United States Mint and U.S. Forest Service officials at the launch ceremony for the Mount Hood National Forest quarter, the last 2010-dated coin in the United States Mint America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. The ceremony will be held Wednesday, November 17, 10:30 a.m. Pacific Time (PT), at the World Forestry Center in Portland, Oregon. Following the event, the public can exchange their cash for $10 rolls of Mount Hood National Forest quarters. Children 18 years old and younger will receive a new Mount Hood National Forest quarter to commemorate the event.

The evening before the launch ceremony—Tuesday, November 16 at 5:30 p.m. (PT)—United States Mint Deputy Director Andy Brunhart will host a coin forum. The coin forum is an opportunity for the public to express their views about future U.S. coinage, and to learn about upcoming United States Mint coin programs and initiatives. The forum will be held at the World Forestry Center, Cheatham Hall, 4033 SW Canyon Road, Portland, OR 97221.
The America the Beautiful Quarters Program, authorized by public Law 110-456, is a 12-year initiative to honor 56 national parks and other national sites. Each year, the public will see five new national sites depicted on the reverse (tails side) of the America the Beautiful Quarters. The United States Mint will issue these quarters in the order in which the honored site was first established as a national site.
