Fiat 500 Leads Segment in J.D. Power's 2016 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study(SM)
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
- Ram Truck brand ranks eighth among all automakers for vehicle dependability
- Fiat 500 is highest ranking City Car in dependability study
- Chrysler Town & Country ranks second in Minivan segment
- Dodge Challenger ranks third among Midsize Sporty Cars
The FIAT brand's perfect combination of Italian craftsmanship and style in a small car – the Fiat 500 – ranks highest among City Cars in J.D. Power's 2016 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study(SM) (VDS).
VDS is based on responses from 33,560 original owners of 2013 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. The study was fielded from October through December 2015.
"This is the first time the Fiat 500 has ranked highest in the City Car segment in this quality study," said Matt Liddane, Vice President – Quality, FCA-North America. "The 500 has always been known for its Italian styling, functionality, efficient design and innovative technology – we're proud to have this dependability honor in the mix as well."
The Ram Truck brand moved up six spots to rank eighth highest among all automakers for vehicle dependability.
"The 2013 model year Ram Truck brand improvements vaults us into the top 10 in the industry, which is an excellent accomplishment," Liddane said. "This is the same model year where we saw the Ram 1500 win the 'Triple Crown' of truck awards – taking home Motor Trend Truck of the Year® honors, the 2013 North American Truck of the Year title and 1500 was named 'Truck of Texas.'"
The Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Challenger also performed well in the VDS, ranking second and third in the Minivan and Midsize Sporty Car segments, respectively.
The study, now in its 27th year, examines problems experienced during the past 12 months by original owners of 2013 model-year vehicles.
