FHLBank San Francisco to Hold Panel Discussion on Best Practices for Expanding Small Businesses and Training for Quality Jobs

WHAT:

The Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco (FHLBank San Francisco) will announce a new job development and small business financing initiative. This initiative will direct $40 million to fund innovative programs to enhance the income and wealth-building potential of working families and help generate future homebuyers in underserved communities in the Bank's three-state district of Arizona, California, and Nevada.

The Bank is holding a series of roundtable discussions in five cities - Las Vegas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Francisco. Regional workforce development and small business financing experts will discuss best practices for preparing local residents for the jobs of today and tomorrow.  The Las Vegas discussion will be divided into two panels, one on job training and the second on the expansion of small businesses.  Following the series of discussions, Greg Nelson, an Aspen Institute Fellow, will write a report summarizing the findings, which will be used to shape the Bank's RFP process for awarding grants.
