FENTON Opens London Office
Assembles Global Network of Social Impact Firms
LONDON, Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- FENTON has opened its first international office in London at 7 Cavendish Square and has hired Alison Lucas as its Director.
The 30-year-old social impact communications firm's London office will focus on UK, European and global public health, energy, environment, philanthropic and corporate responsibility clients.
Alison Lucas will serve as Director of the London office. She was most recently Co-Founder of The Climate Group (www.climategroup.org), which works with governments, brands and public figures across Asia, Europe and North America pushing for the policies, technologies and investment needed for a low-carbon economy.
Lucas previously ran an environmental communications consultancy and was Director of Communications for the World Wildlife Fund's International Forests Campaign, where she helped create the Forest Stewardship Council certification program.
Simultaneous with the London opening, FENTON has aligned a group of like-minded social impact firms into a new Global Network throughout Asia, Africa and Latin America. The network will be run from the London office, with details to be announced shortly.
London is FENTON's fifth office, after New York, Washington, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The full-service communications firm's motto is "Progress, Accelerated." It is best known for public interest campaigning for health, the environment and human rights. FENTON's signature achievements over the past 30 years include boosting the organic/healthy food movement, galvanizing public opposition to apartheid, sounding an early alarm about global warming, saving swordfish from the brink of extinction, establishing the missing children alert system in America, keeping hard liquor ads off network television and many others. FENTON was one of the founding members of Business for Social Responsibility (www.bsr.org) in 1992.
"FENTON is one of the most respected agencies in the world," commented London Director Alison Lucas. "Its reputation for marrying communications excellence with the most pressing issues of our time is second to none. It is an enormous privilege to now launch Fenton in Europe."
Founder and CEO David Fenton will be travelling regularly to London as part of the European expansion, along with the firm's Chief Change Officer Lisa Witter. Fenton got his start in communications as part of the anti-Vietnam war movement of the 60s. Fenton is also the former Director of Public Relations for Rolling Stone magazine. He was named one of the 100 most influential people in public relations by PR Week magazine and "the robin hood of public relations" by The National Journal. Fenton is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.
"We have always worked internationally with clients and governments in Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East," Fenton explained. "As the world faces critical global health, environmental and economic issues, we are out to show that a global firm can 'do well by doing good,' as we have done in the U.S. for three decades. London is the natural place for our global expansion to commence."
