Feed the Children President and CEO to Lead American Diabetes Association
Kevin L. Hagan ushered in a new era of leadership in the fight against hunger
OKLAHOMA CITY, Feb. 19, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Feed the Children today announced that President and CEO Kevin L. Hagan has informed the board of directors of his decision to join the American Diabetes Association when his three-year term expires in May. Hagan explained to the board that he is proud of the organization's momentum and feels called now to address the diabetes crisis in America.
For the past three years, Hagan has helped to grow Feed the Children as one of the world's leading anti-hunger organizations dedicated to creating a world where no child goes to bed hungry.
"Kevin's leadership has heightened the awareness and mission of Feed the Children and the effectiveness of its work," said Feed the Children Board Chair Rick England. "His approach to creating change by forming partnerships with like-minded organizations, government, corporations, communities and individuals has achieved great strides in broadening and elevating child hunger initiatives."
"Kevin's dedication to children is commendable, and we feel extremely fortunate to have benefited from his expertise," England said. "Feed the Children will keep building upon the progress made during Kevin's tenure as we continue to accomplish our important mission of ending child hunger."
Feed the Children's major achievements under Hagan's leadership include a renewed commitment to find new, innovative approaches to deliver more services more efficiently, and a new brand that's sparked a new organizational rallying cry to defeat the status quo of hunger by partnering with other organizations and digging deeper to address root causes of hunger.
The organization's reputation today is strong:
- 4-Star rating from Charity Navigator, scoring especially high in its transparency and accountability category.
- Recognition with the BBB Wise Giving Alliance National Charity Seal having met the 20 Standards of Excellence.
- Feed the Children was accepted as a member of InterAction in 2013. InterAction is a coalition of more than 160 humanitarian organizations working on disaster relief, refugee assistance and sustainable development programs worldwide.
- More recently, the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) invited Feed the Children to join as an official member, and Hagan participated in CGI's CEO-invitation only 2014 annual forum on global development in New York City.
- Visibility in public policy and advocacy work by building a strong foundation of partnerships with agencies and industries involved in critical issues affecting child hunger.
"It has been a great honor to work with Feed the Children's dedicated and talented board and staff and with the numerous generous supporters and volunteers I've met with along the way," said Hagan. "From my most recent travels in Kenya to volunteering in Oklahoma City during our summer feeding program – and everything else in between – it's the children I'll always remember. My passion to feed and nurture all of these children will remain, and I'll continue to do my part."
Hagan will leave his Feed the Children CEO position in May 2015. Feed the Children's executive leadership will run global operations until a new CEO is appointed by the board of directors.
