Feed the Children and PepsiCo Unite to Fight Childhood Hunger in Hartford, Conn.
Nonprofits and Corporations Band Together to Help 800 Families
HARTFORD, Conn., June 17, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- PepsiCo and Price Rite joined Feed the Children and Community Renewal Team today to lend a hand to 800 Hartford families in need, providing them with food, essentials, and fresh produce. The event took place at XFINITY Comcast Theatre 61 Savitt Way, Hartford, Conn.
Together, Feed the Children, PepsiCo, and Price Rite provided enough supplemental food and essentials to help support a family of four for up to a week:
- 25 pounds of food
- 10 pounds of essentials
- A box of AVON products
- Frito-Lay snacks
- Pepsi products
- Quaker Oatmeal, Quaker Chewy Bars and Aunt Jemima products
- Fresh produce, water, and shelf-stable foods from Price Rite
"PepsiCo is excited to be partnering with Feed the Children for its fifth year of giving back and providing food and essentials to families in Hartford," said Craig Dumas, Zone Sales Director for Central New England Zone.
The event is one of many Feed the Children has planned across the country, so that instead of worrying about having enough to eat, thousands of kids can just be kids this summer. In Hartford alone, nearly 34 percent of families live below the poverty line. Often, these children are unsure of where they will find their next meal.
