ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, American Trucking Associations' Technology & Maintenance Council announced that FedEx Freight technician Mark McLean has won the TMCSuperTech National Technicians Skills Competition for the second straight year.
"Since it was founded a decade ago, TMCSuperTech has shone a spotlight on the skills and professionalism of technicians like Mark and I congratulate him and all the competitors at this year's event," said ATA President and CEO Bill Graves.
McLean, from Montgomery, N.Y., helped FedEx sweep the top three spots in the event, with Eric Vos, Boise, Idaho, finishing second and Charles Kerr, Schertz, Texas, finishing third.
On his way to being named Grand Champion, McLean won three of 15 skill stations: drivetrain, service information and wheel end.
"Mark exemplifies everything that the TMCSuperTech competition and TMC were founded to highlight: professionalism, deep technical knowledge and practical application of skills," said Carl Kirk, ATA vice president of maintenance, information technology & logistics.
McLean lead the FedEx Freight team, along with Matthew Nolan, Windsor Locks, Conn., to victory in the team competition.
In addition to the main TMCSuperTech, TMC sponsored a first-time student technician skills competition. Lueck Gunnar, a student at WyoTech, won the competition and three of eight station events. Mid-Florida Tech student Robert Gonzalez finished second and Advanced Technology Institute's Kenneth McDonald finished third.
The full list of all the station winners in both TMCSuperTech and the student competition is below.
