Federal Managers to Convene on Budget Impact & Agency Performance
OMB's Shelley Metzenbaum, HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan among federal leaders to address Excellence in Government conference
WASHINGTON, Nov. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On Thursday November 17th, hundreds of federal managers will convene at the Excellence in Government Conference in Washington, D.C. to explore the outlook for federal budgets and gain insights into the consequences of the cuts on the horizon.
With Congress' Super Committee working on additional savings as part of the August debt ceiling deal and with OMB's recent mandate that agencies cut up to 10% from their 2013 budgets, the challenge to federal managers is clear: do more with less. Members of the media and the federal community are invited to attend Excellence in Government to hear three can't-miss keynote speakers:
- HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan on budget pressures, high-priority goals, and performance management efforts
- "Blah, Blah, Blah" author Dan Roam on improving communication, presentation, and ideation in your organization
- OMB Associate Director Shelley Metzenbaum on cutting waste, boosting productivity, and accomplishing more mission for the money
In addition, six breakout sessions will delve deep into what the budget battles likely mean for federal agencies and what managers can do now to prepare. Sessions include:
- Budget Cuts: Reading the Tea Leaves
- Setting Goals & Measuring Performance
- Making the Case for Your Program
- Lessons from the States
- Lessons from the Last Downsizing
