Federal Judge Invalidates mophie, Inc. claim against LivingSocial, Inc., represented by Adli Law Group, P.C.
LOS ANGELES, Nov. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In a significant decision, a Federal Judge in Los Angeles invalidated a key patent owned by mophie, Inc., the well-known designer and manufacturer of mobile accessories, including battery and storage cases, headquartered in California. The patent, U.S. Patent No. 8,367,235, is entitled "Battery Pack, Holster, and Extendible Processing and Interface Platform for Mobile Devices," and was issued on February 5, 2013. The judge found the claims of the patent to be too indefinite to survive.
Mophie had filed a lawsuit against LivingSocial, Inc., Dharmesh Shah, and Serve Global, LLC, d/b/a Source Vista for infringing its patent (Case No. SA CV 13-01321 DMG). Founder and President of Adli Law Group, P.C., Dr. Dariush Adli, whose firm represents the defendants, cited a recent decision of the Supreme Court, which clarified the standard for claim validity for the result, observing: "We are not surprised by this decision, which is consistent with the recent Supreme Court ruling on patent claim clarity."
