February Education Programs at the Bush Library and Museum
COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Jan. 31, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In February students in grades 3-8 can learn from a former president and hear stories of the Buffalo Soldiers through on-site and distance learning programs available at the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum at Texas A&M University.
Celebrate Presidents Day
Feb. 20, 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-1:30 p.m. CST
Grades 3-8
Meet one of America's most exciting and dynamic presidents, Theodore Roosevelt. He was a hunter and conservationist. He was also a warrior who won the Nobel Peace Prize. Historical impressionist Peter Small, who has performed across the nation, including at four Presidential Libraries and for the History Channel, will present this interactive portrayal.
The program is available through distance learning and on site at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center. Free books will be distributed to on-site participants based on registration date and availability of books.
Contributions of Buffalo Soldiers
Feb. 27, 10:30-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-1:30 p.m. CST
Grades 3-8
Hear the stories of the heroic Buffalo Soldiers! This program depicts the rich history of the Buffalo Soldiers through authentic stories, artifacts and music. This tells the important historical record of the 9th Cavalry as well as 24th and 25th Infantry.
The program is available through distance learning and on site at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center.
Art and Essay Contest
Grades K-12
Entries for the 2014 Art and Essay Contest will be received Feb. 26 and 27 from 2-7 p.m. at the Bush Library and Museum. This year's theme is "Community History, Heroes and Heritage."
