SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- FEARnet celebrates the start of the Sweet 16 with its own interactive tournament of terror on the FEARnet Facebook page. The "Monster Madness" competition pits 16 of horror's greatest villains against each other in four rounds, with fans deciding who will make the final cut. Voting opened today at 9 a.m. PT —the first day of the actual Sweet 16—and closes on Friday, March 29 at 4 p.m. PT. During that time, fans will be able to log on to www.facebook.com/FEARnet, to take part in the first round of the competition.
Round 1 tips-off with eight bloody battles. Burning up the Hell Region, it's Pinhead (HELLRAISER) vs. Pennywise (IT), and Freddy Krueger (A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET) vs. Candyman (CANDYMAN). Carving up the Flesh Region, is Michael Myers (HALLOWEEN) vs. Jason Voorhees (FRIDAY THE 13th) and Dr. Hannibal Lecter (THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS) vs. Leatherface (TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE). While the Colossal Region boasts larger-than-life monster matchups between Predator (PREDATOR) vs. Victor Crowley (HATCHET) and the Xenomorph (ALIEN) vs. The Thing (THE THING). The Mysterious Region rounds things out with supernatural showdowns featuring Chucky (CHILD'S PLAY) vs. Sam (TRICK 'R TREAT) and David (THE LOST BOYS) vs. Marlow (30 DAYS OF NIGHT).
Survivors of Round 1 will move on to face each other in Round 2, with voting opening on Saturday, March 30 at 9 a.m. PT, and closing on Sunday, March 31 at 4 p.m. PT. Division winners will go head-to-head in Round 3, starting Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. PT, with results determining the terrible two who will face each other in the Championship Round. Fans can vote for the killer king on Monday, April 8, from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. PT. Results of the final contest will be posted the next day.
