NORTHBROOK, Ill., Aug. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- FDH Velocitel today announced that the board of managers of its parent company (Velocitel LLC) has appointed two new members.

Richard Ruben, former vice chairman and former CEO of PEG Bandwidth, and Jake MacLeod, former executive vice president of Powerwave and former principal vice president/chief technology officer of Bechtel, were appointed during the board's August 18th meeting. The appointments increase the number of managers to 11.

About Jake MacLeod
MacLeod is a communications industry veteran with over 35 years of experience in network design, deployment and operations. He is founder and president of Gray Beards Consulting, which provides technical and strategic consulting services to commercial and government entities regarding communications network design, deployment and operations.
Before establishing GBC in 2009, MacLeod was principal vice president/chief technology officer and Bechtel Fellow with Bechtel Telecommunications. Prior to Bechtel, MacLeod spent nine years with Hughes Network Systems as AVP for Digital Cellular Systems.
MacLeod started his career in transmission engineering in 1978 with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in San Antonio, TX, and participated in the design of the first cellular systems in Texas in Dallas, San Antonio and Austin. MacLeod holds a bachelor's degree in composite science education from the University of Texas at Austin.
About Richard "Rich" Ruben
Ruben is chairman of Sandy Feet Advisors LLC, through which he advises private equity funds, boards of directors and CEOs. Previously, Ruben held vice chairman and CEO positions at PEG Bandwidth. Prior to PEG Bandwidth, Ruben helped lead substantial growth and create successful exits as CEO of XOS Technologies, WireOne Communications and V-SPAN.
Ruben has led large and small communications, media, technology, and sports businesses for over 25 years. In the late 1980s, he directed Bell Atlantic's strategic planning, which led to his role as CFO of Bell Atlantic Mobile in the early 1990s, during which he led Bell Atlantic's early M&A expansion into the wireless industry, which resulted in the creation of Verizon Wireless.
Ruben has served on numerous boards and advisory boards throughout his career, including PEG Bandwidth, V-SPAN, XOS Technologies, Spectacor, NHL Board of Governors (alternate), NBA Board of Governors (alternate), Philly.com, InThePlay, Oasys Mobile, Impact Health, Satori Software and several not-for-profit organizations.
Ruben started his career with Coopers & Lybrand. He has a bachelor's degree in economics from Fairleigh Dickinson University, as well as a law degree and a master's in business administration from Santa Clara University. He is also a certified public accountant.
