Fattah Statement on Shooting of Congresswoman Giffords

WASHINGTON, Jan. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), releases the following statement on the attack of his colleague Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ):

"Word of today's shooting of my colleague Gabrielle Giffords, her District Director and others in Tucson have left us all reeling from this senseless act of unprovoked violence.

"It is a tragedy that in the course of serving the needs of her constituents, Gabby, along with members of her staff, and countless bystanders were subject to such carnage.

"My family and I join with others in prayer for all the victims including Pennsylvania native and Federal Judge John Roll, and the young nine year old child and their families.  Like her doctors I remain optimistic and pray for a full and complete recovery for my colleague and friend Gabby."
