Fattah Statement on Passing of Former Boston Mayor Tom Menino
WASHINGTON, Oct. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (PA-02) released the following statement on the passing of former Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino. Fattah and Menino collaborated through their parallel efforts fighting to reduce gun violence across the United States and through their work on the Congressional Urban Caucus, which is co-chaired by Congressman Fattah:
"Today, America lost a great leader, and Boston their most impassioned champion. For more than two decades, Mayor Menino led the city he loved so much—a city that will be forever stronger because of his vision and leadership.
"I join with the City of Boston in mourning this immense loss and in sending my deepest condolences to his family and friends. Tom Menino was a mayor that not only had the unwavering confidence of his constituents, but had the admiration of city officials and civic leaders throughout the country. It was an honor and privilege to work together with Mayor Menino in our shared efforts to strengthen America's cities and make them safer places to live and work. Today, as we honor and remember this great man, we can be certain his legacy will live on through the world-class city that he worked so hard to shape."
