Fattah Statement on June Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, July 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), a Senior Member on the House Appropriations Committee and lead Democrat on the Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and related agencies, released the following statement on the June jobs numbers released today:
"Today's job numbers indicate that the unemployment rate fell to 6.1%, while 262,000 private sector jobs were added in June, marking the 52nd consecutive month of private sector job growth. Not only is this the lowest unemployment rate since September 2008, 52 successive months of private sector job creation is the longest ever on record.
"This is an exceptionally strong report reinforcing a story that has been unfolding over the last six years as President Obama has worked to turn our economy around. The Administration's economic policies and programs are working, and our economy is accelerating."
