Fattah Statement on Grand Jury Decision in Shooting of Michael Brown
WASHINGTON, Nov. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (PA-02) released the following statement following yesterday's grand jury decision in the shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri:
"I join with so many across the country in expressing my disappointment today following the grand jury decision in the Michael Brown case. By all accounts, this was an abnormal grand jury process that resulted in an expected, but unfortunate conclusion.
"With no redress at the local or state level, it is now the responsibility of the federal government to act, as it has done in appropriate cases throughout our country's history. Twelve shots fired at an unarmed teenager deserves no less than a thorough federal investigation. While we wait for the federal review proceedings to conclude, I offer my condolences to Michael Brown's family, friends, and the entire Ferguson community who remain without closure today."
