Fattah Statement On August Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, Sept. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), a Senior Member on the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement on the August job numbers:
"The jobless rate fell to 7.3% in August, while the private sector added 152,000 jobs, marking the 42nd month of consecutive private sector job growth. Though these numbers show positive signs of improvement, our work is far from over.
"Congress must take action on legislation that drives job creation and supports the millions of people in this country seeking employment. With nearly four million job openings going unfilled, we must turn our attention to this concerning skills mismatch. There are jobs available—but only by expanding our workforce training programs and making higher education a priority for all, can we build a highly skilled American labor pool that satisfies the needs of these employers."
