Fattah Commends Senate for Advancing Critical Funding Bill, Predicts House Passage
WASHINGTON, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA), Chairman of the Congressional Urban Caucus and Pennsylvania's senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, issues this statement upon today's Senate cloture vote that advances $26 billion in Medicaid and education funding:
"The Senate is to be commended for moving forward today with legislation that provides critical funding for state Medicaid programs and supports our teachers in financially-challenged school districts across the nation. Pennsylvania Senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey have provided stand-up leadership that will allow vital services in the Commonwealth to continue.
"As a senior appropriator in the House I am confident that the House will quickly follow suit, vote its approval and send this bill to President Obama's desk for his signature by next week. We continue to make progress, creating and saving jobs, against the backdrop of tough economic times."
