FastPencil Receives 2014 Innovation Award from the International Digital Publishing Forum at BookExpo America
CAMPBELL, Calif., June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- FastPencil, the fastest, easiest way to write and publish your book, recently received the third annual Innovation Award from the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF) at the 2014 BookExpo America. The IDPF's Innovation Award recognizes the best-of-breed technology solution among numerous exhibitors at BEA each year.
"We are truly honored by the committee's decision to award us with this distinguished accolade," said Steve Wilson, co-founder and President of FastPencil. "We pride ourselves on being on the cutting-edge of self-publishing platforms and offering a product that resonates with writers for its diverse functionality and ease of use. Our latest instance of this platform, shared at BEA and winner of this award, demonstrates our continued momentum within the publishing industry and the unique differentiators of our product."
IDPF Executive Director Bill McCoy presented Wilson with the award on May 26 during a special ceremony during the IDPF's Digital Book conference at BEA. Each exhibitor at the Digital Book conference was evaluated by a panel of several industry veterans and experts. Judges noticed and recognized FastPencil's unique user interface, ease of use, quality end product and vast user base.
In addition to the newest version of the platform, FastPencil also unveiled two exciting new ventures during BEA. The first is that FastPencil has partnered with World's Best Story to uncover the next big blockbuster story via a social contest. Aspiring authors will be reviewed and voted on by a community of readers, and, ultimately, hand-selected by a panel of best-selling authors. The grand prize winner will have his or her title published by FastPencil PREMIERE, FastPencil's best-selling author imprint service which has represented authors such as Mercer Mayer, Steven Pressfield and Mark Victor Hansen.
FastPencil also shared a new partnership with On Demand Books, creators of the patented Espresso Book Machine technology, which will be branded as SelfEspress. Launching this summer, the new SelfEspress tool provides writers the ability to instantly create, publish and print their work through the platform, than instantly print their book on an Espresso Book machine in one of many retail locations.
