Fastest Growing Segment of Church in United States to Unite with 'Una Voz'
NHCLC Hosts First Annual Conference, Leads New Era of Hispanic Evangelicals
SACRAMENTO, Calif., April 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- To unify and amplify its voice as an effective force in today's culture and in the future of the church in the United States, the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference (NHCLC) will host its first annual conference, "Una Voz (One Voice)," in San Diego April 29-30. The NHCLC is the largest Hispanic Christian organization in the U.S., representing more than 40,000 churches.
"Research continues to show that Hispanics are the fastest growing segment of the church in the United States," said NHCLC President Rev. Samuel Rodriguez. "With that fact comes a great opportunity and a great responsibility."
During the conference at the end of April, pastors and leaders will hear from speakers including: Larry Acosta, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Hispanic Ministry Center; Glenn Burris, president of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel; Sergio DeLaMora, Pastor of the Cornerstone Church of San Diego; Erwin McManus (Salvadorian descent), American author, lecturer, and pastor of Mosaic Church; Miles McPherson, author and pastor of Rock Church; Luis Palau, international Christian evangelist via video; and Sam Rodriguez, NHCLC president.
In addition, conference goers will hear from Danilo Montero, Costa Rican Contemporary Christian Music singer, author, and pastor. He won the Latin Grammy Award for best Christian Artist.
"There is no better time to lay the ground work and work toward reconciling the vertical and horizontal planes of the Christian message," said Rodriguez. "We want to blend sanctification with service, conviction with compassion, the image of God with the habits of Christ, holiness and humility, John 3:16 and Matthew 25, and the prophetic with the practical."
Seeking to reconcile evangelist Billy Graham's message of salvation with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s, march of prophetic activism, the NHCLC emphasizes "seven directives" of Life, Family, Compassionate Evangelism, Stewardship, Justice, Education and Youth.
