COPENHAGEN, Feb. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Network Equipment Building Systems (NEBS) compliance has long been a requirement for US carriers deploying networking equipment. Napatech (OSE: NAPA) has provided NEBS-certified products based on PCIe Gen1 for more than three years and today announced the availability of a NEBS level 3 compliant variant for its 2-port 10G PCIe, 4-port 10G PCIe and 1-port 100G PCIe accelerators. To see the complete portfolio, visit http://www.napatech.com/products.
This certification aligns Napatech accelerators with telecom carrier demands for compliance and helps network appliance vendors accelerate time-to-market and reduce costs.
- Evaluation requirement: NEBS is a family of requirements used by members of Telecommunications Carrier Groups (TCG) such as Qwest, Verizon and AT&T to evaluate telecom equipment for reliability and safety. In order to be considered for deployment in the industry, Level 3 certification is typically the required level acceptable for equipment. It is the highest level of NEBS certification and has been adopted by other service providers that are not members of TCG, such as Comcast.
- Reliable and verified: NEBS certified accelerators will primarily be used in telecom applications and will assist appliance vendors in addressing not only the telecom industry but also US Federal and other global government agencies looking for reliable, trustworthy equipment.
- New features support flexible deployments: Napatech provides OEM partners with an even more diverse portfolio of solutions that support 1G, 10G and 100G network speeds. Key features include:
- support for more flexible deployments in high-speed networks up to 100G.
- off-load analysis for accelerated performance.
- advanced MPLS support and extended IP Match functionality.
- simultaneous monitoring of same data on multiple appliances while reducing the need for separate load-balancing appliances.
- local retransmit to multiple ports, allowing the accelerator to be used for both monitoring and load-balanced retransmission to other appliances.
Dan Joe Barry, VP of positioning and chief evangelist, Napatech said:
"One of the strategic drivers in the renewed interest for NEBS compliance by OEM vendors is the advent of network functions virtualization (NFV) where carriers intend to migrate from proprietary hardware solutions to virtualized solutions running on standard servers. This prospect has encouraged server vendors such as HP and Dell to make serious investments in this space, in turn providing appliance vendors with the products and pricing levels they need to offer more attractive NEBS-compliant appliances. We are pleased to provide our customers with the features and capabilities they need to ensure consistency in managing and securing end-to-end services from 1G to 100G."
