Fashion Manufacturing Initiative Grant Winner Dynotex selects Lectra technology
Lectra continues partnership with the CFDA to revitalize NYC-based manufacturing
ATLANTA, June 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Lectra, the world leader in integrated technology solutions dedicated to industries using soft materials—fabrics, leather, technical textiles and composite materials—is pleased to announce its continued support for the second year of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA)'s Fashion Manufacturing Initiative (FMI). The FMI offers financial grants and support to New York City fashion companies to help grow and sustain their businesses through the acquisition of innovative equipment, advanced technology, and worker training.
Dynotex, one of this year's seven grant recipients, has selected Lectra technology to strengthen its pattern-making and manufacturing capabilities. The company is a full-service clothing cut- and sew-contractor offering services such as pattern-making, sample-making, fitting evaluation, grading and marking, and bulk production. Dynotex will use the grant to reinforce the company's pattern-making and fabric cutting capabilities, specifically with Lectra's 3D solution for pattern-making, grading and virtual prototyping; and Lectra's automated cutting solution.
"Customer demands for an increased number of sizes and superior fit delivered in a timely manner made it a necessity to evaluate our capabilities," explains Alan Ng, President of Dynotex. "We recognize that the market is shifting and customers want more customized products; through the FMI grant, we are investing in our production technology to better address this need. With Lectra's technology, we will automate our traditionally manual cutting process and introduce 3D capabilities within pattern development. These investments will help us lower the cost of pattern-making, simplify the fitting process across sizes, reduce the number of samples necessary for our customers, accelerate the marker-making process and more accurately estimate the cutting costs while also reducing overall expenses."
"Lectra is pleased to continue its relationship with the CFDA through the Fashion Manufacturing Initiative," comments Renato Mariani, Vice President of Marketing for Lectra North America. "Integrating advanced technology within the design and production process is critical to solidifying the strong fashion backbone of New York City, and we look forward to building upon the existing strengths of Dynotex to enhance the company's competitiveness."
