Farm Fresh To You Starts Northern California Event Season With Spring Equinox Farm Tour On March 18
CAPAY, Calif., March 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Farm Fresh To You (www.farmfreshtoyou.com), the local, organic CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) and home delivery service and its Northern California farm, Capay Organic, announced its 2017 event season today. Most of the scheduled farm events support the Kathleen Barsotti Non-Profit for Sustainable Agriculture (KBNP) and other local charitable organizations, such as Yolo Arts and Food Literacy Center.
The Kathleen Barsotti Non-Profit for Sustainable Agriculture (www.kathleenbarsotti.org) gives an annual college scholarship to a high school senior planning on pursuing a field related to sustainable agriculture. KBNP also donates school supplies to farmworkers' families in the Capay Valley. In 2016, KBNP distributed over 900 backpacks full of school supplies to local students.
The farm will host its first event, the Spring Equinox Farm Tour on Saturday, March 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The farm's address is 23808 State Highway 16, Capay, Calif., 95607. Nearly 7,000 people visited the farm last year throughout the event season.
The farm's tractor tram will tour guests around the farm to see spring veggies growing in the fields and fruit trees in bloom. There will also be a sustainable agriculture talk led by chief farmer Thaddeus Barsotti at noon.
"We are excited for a new farm tour season to begin - connecting our community to farms is central to our mission," said farmer Thaddeus Barsotti. "When guests visit our farm, they learn about how we go beyond organic in our farming methods and how working with local farms helps the local economy."
There will be an organic produce market stand where guests can buy farm fresh produce in bulk. Tacos 911 will be selling lunch. Township Valley Farms and Capay Valley Ranches will offer tastings of their products. Food Literacy Center will create a kids' art activity. The Esparto 4-H will stage a petting zoo. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic and spend the afternoon. Admission is $5 per adult. Kids 12 and under are free.
