WASHINGTON, Nov. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Family Research Council (FRC) senior fellows Chris Gacek, J.D., Ph.D., and Ken Klukowski, J.D., are available to discuss the U.S. Supreme Court's decision this week on whether to take the Proposition 8 case Hollingsworth v. FRC filed amicus briefs in the Defense of Marriage Act case arising out of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit (Gill) and the Proposition 8 case (then called Perry v. Schwarzenegger) in conjunction with the Thomas More Society of Chicago, IL.
Dr. Chris Gacek, an expert on the federal Defense of Marriage Act, is senior fellow for regulatory affairs at the Family Research Council. He co-authored amicus briefs on behalf of FRC in two federal court cases regarding same-sex marriage. Dr. Gacek received his undergraduate degree from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, a Ph.D. in political science from Stanford University, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. He has previously worked for the Heritage Foundation, the American Enterprise Institute, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit (as a law clerk), the Federal Communications Commission, and a Senate subcommittee.
Ken Klukowski, director of the Center for Religious Liberty at FRC, is a national-bestselling author, constitutional lawyer and media contributor. He is on faculty at Liberty University School of Law, and a fellow and senior legal analyst with the American Civil Rights Union. He has also been published by Politico, the New York Post, and the Wall Street Journal, among other outlets. Klukowski has authored briefs on constitutional issues across the country, including the one adopted by the U.S. district court in striking down Obamacare in its entirety. He has authored seven law review articles, and been cited by multiple federal and state courts. A native of Indiana, he received his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame, studied history and political science at Arizona State University, and earned his law degree from George Mason University where he was a journal editor.
