Family Office Investments in the Emerging Cannabis Industry Highlighted at Palm Beach Forum
PALM BEACH, Florida, October 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
Family Office Networks hosted an event in Palm Beach this week to educate investors on how to generate high returns in the emerging cannabis industry. A majority of attendees representing high net worth families listened to industry experts discuss and debate timely issues of importance to the industry and private investors.
"Cannabis is now legal in 25 states and five additional states will vote on legalization this fall. Legal cannabis sales are projected to increase from $4.8 billion last year to $6.5 billion this year and to climb to $25 billion by 2020. This represents an important investment opportunity and we are pleased to be at the forefront of educating substantial families on the latest investment trends and issues that have the potential to positively impact their legacy," said Andrew Schneider, Founder and President of Family Office Networks.
Nine states will have cannabis measures on their ballots this coming November, including California, where voters could make it legal for recreational use and Florida, which could be the 26th state to legalize medical cannabis. The event outlined how the industry is continuing to evolve and mature and why early investors are well positioned to profit.
Investment opportunities highlighted at the event included pharmaceuticals, products, emerging brands and related businesses that do not "touch the plant." For example, InMed Pharmaceuticals is involved in biopharmaceutical applications while Adjacent Capital is a leading private equity firm investing in the cannabis industry.
"InMed is a pre-clinical stage biopharmaceutical company that develops novel therapies through the research and development into the extensive pharmacology of cannabinoids coupled with innovative drug delivery systems. Our proprietary drug/disease targeting platform, cannabinoid biosynthesis technology and drug development pipeline continue to drive value for our company and our investors. We're pleased to expand our thought leadership into a larger group of family office investors," said Chris Bogart, Senior Vice President of InMed Pharmaceuticals.
"As private equity firms continue to expand investments in companies operating in the legal cannabis industry, we're well positioned to help provide capital to new companies seeking to generate strong returns. This, in turn, benefits our family office investment partners and the future is bright for new investors in our industry," said Matt Hawkins, Founder and Principal of Adjacent Capital, a Dallas-based special situation investor, private lender and financial advisory services firm.
The Family Office Networks Cannabis Investment forum represents the latest in a series of events, seminars, and special functions that take place throughout the year engineered to deliver the most pertinent information to assist family offices in reaching their goals.
