Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA) Will Keep Families Together in Kentucky Through Multisystemic Therapy (MST)
LOUISVILLE, Ky., Jan. 7, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- MST Services, the exclusive purveyor of scientifically proven Multisystemic Therapy ("MST"), will be coming to Louisville, Kentucky.
The Family First Prevention Services Act ("FFPSA"), which focuses on preventing the need for foster care, uses federal funds to develop programs intended to provide enhanced support to children and families. Kentucky is one of the first states to implement FFPSA. To qualify for long-term funding under the FFPSA, programs must meet stringent requirements that are reviewed by the Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse. MST is rated 'well supported,' the top rating, by the Clearinghouse.
The MST program is made possible through partnerships with The Home of the Innocents, the Kentucky Department of Community Based Services and the Department of Medicaid Services.
Multisystemic Therapy (MST) is research-supported, evidence-based, and trauma-informed. The goal of MST is to keep families together and prevent the need for costly and ineffective out-of-home placements whenever possible. MST teams work toward this goal by providing customized interventions within the home, school, and community of an at-risk youth and their family. Teams are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist families when and where they need it most.
