SANTA FE, N.M., Feb. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The Falling Colors Foundation's first Women in Technology Scholarship Essay Contest, a $2500 prize to be awarded in May, begins today. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to an accredited educational institution for tuition and related expenses on behalf of the student receiving the Scholarship.
The Falling Colors Foundation's Women in Technology Scholarship will be awarded to a New Mexico high school senior girl who writes the best essay covering some or all of the following topics:
- What about technology interests you?
- Have you ever worked on a technology project? If so, what did you learn?
- How can technology be used to improve lives?
- What technological skills are you interested in pursuing?
To be eligible, applicant must be a female 12th grade student currently enrolled in a New Mexico high school. Relatives or friends of Falling Colors employees are not eligible to enter.
To enter, students must submit an 800-1200 word personal essay that answers some or all of the questions listed above. Essays must be the original work of the student. Judging will be based on content, originality, persuasiveness of the thoughts presented, and writing style. All entries must be submitted to The Falling Colors Foundation at www.fallingcolorsfoundation.org/EssayContest no later than 5 p.m., May 1, 2017.
The winner of the Contest will be announced on May 31, 2017. She will be awarded a $2500 scholarship, a trip to Santa Fe with a parent or other adult chaperone, and a personal interview and lunch with the Foundation's Board of Directors: Pamela Koster, Mindy Hale, and John Alejandro.
