Fairway Independent Mortgage to Recognize Local Veteran
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Nov. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation, one of the country's largest mortgage companies, will educate Realtors at a Boot Camp training event this Veteran's Day in Scottsdale, Arizona. As the nation struggles to provide housing opportunities for veterans, Fairway will conduct Certified Military Residential Specialist (CMRS) training for real estate agents. The training earns each Realtor® three hours of continuing education.
The brave men and women of the US Armed Forces have endured incredible hardships and sacrifice to defend our freedom, and often face uphill battles when it comes to employment, homeownership, and poverty. These unique challenges became the inspiration for Fairway's American Warrior Initiative, a company-wide mission that seeks to ease the transition between military and civilian life. CMRS training plays a vital role in this initiative.
In addition to the CMRS training, Fairway will be honoring a local wounded veteran. This individual served in the United States Marine Corps from 2005-2006, following in the footsteps of family members who served before him. His career, and life, took a drastic turn when he was injured by a roadside bomb. The explosion caused life-threatening injuries, including a fractured pelvis and ruptured spleen. The damage done to his right leg resulted in an amputation.
Today, this local hero is thriving, having overcome every obstacle thrown at him. He is a successful business owner, incredible athlete, and passionate public speaker. Fairway could not be more excited to show him the gratitude and recognition he deserves.
"Fairway is thankful to the local hero, and all military veterans who have served our country," said Louise Thaxton, director of Fairway's Military Mortgage Division.
Speaking at the event is Sean Parnell, decorated Army Ranger and author of the NY Times best-selling book Outlaw Platoon, which details Parnell's experiences serving the U.S. military in Afghanistan. Parnell is a recipient of two Bronze Stars, one for Valor, and a Purple Heart. Now retired from the Army, Parnell serves as Goodwill Ambassador for Fairway and co-founder, along-side Louise Thaxton, of the American Warrior Initiative.
"Active duty and veteran service members often face a difficult time when trying to buy a home," noted Fairway CEO Steve Jacobson.
"The objective of Fairway's CMRS certification program is to train and equip real estate agents to handle with care the home purchase needs of active duty and former military clients," Jacobson said. Since launching its Boot Camp training in 2012, Fairway has trained nearly 4,000 mortgage and real estate professionals.
Fairway Independent Mortgage is a proud supporter of the American military and has helped thousands of active military personnel and veterans nationwide with their home mortgage needs. The Fairway team feels fortunate to be able to give back to these brave veterans and their families.
