Fairview and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota reach contract agreement for clinics and hospitals
EAGAN, Minn., Dec. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Fairview and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota (Blue Cross) have reached an agreement on a contract that allows Fairview clinics and hospitals to remain as participating providers in Blue Cross' provider networks. The contract was set to expire at midnight on Friday, December 31, 2016. The new contract is in effect through the end of 2018.
"We are pleased an agreement has been reached, so patients with Blue Cross coverage can continue to access their Fairview providers and services at the in-network benefit levels of their plan," said Dr. Beth Thomas, Fairview chief medical officer. "Our goal throughout these discussions was to find a fair solution that will allow Fairview to continue providing exceptional patient care and service in the future while avoiding any disruption in care. The agreement we reached does that."
"Blue Cross is glad our members can continue care with their Fairview caregivers," said Garrett Black, senior vice president of health services at Blue Cross. "We know that many of our members value having access to Fairview hospitals and physicians at in-network benefits and prices. We also know our members value affordability and access. The agreement allows us to provide uninterrupted care and coverage to our members while addressing rising healthcare costs."
Blue Cross members can continue to receive care at a Fairview clinic or facility with uninterrupted coverage. Members can find more information at www.bluecrossmn.com or by calling the customer service number on the back of their I.D. card. Fairview also has information at www.fairview.org.
