Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District Wins Award For Best Wastewater Collection System In The State
FAIRFIELD, Calif., May 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Fairfield Suisun Sewer District has won the prestigious 2013 California Water Environment Association's (CWEA) award for the state's best collection system of its size (0-249 miles). The District was selected by a committee of the 2012 CWEA collection system award winners.
The CWEA awards program honors exceptional wastewater agencies in areas that include compliance, maintenance, operating procedures, and training programs.

The District's major accomplishments for 2013:
- Completed the Central-Suisun Forcemain Equalization project to provide capacity for projected growth over the next 10 years through piping modifications, and effectively delay the construction of expensive pump station infrastructure.
- Replaced aging electrical equipment with modern equipment at Central Pump Station, greatly improving pump station safety and reliability.
- The District has undertaken an unprecedented effort to develop comprehensive sewer pump station contingency plans, including bypass plans, traffic control plans, and critical diversion or overflow elevation locations.
